Wow, it seems like ages since the last update and it has been.
Today we set about repairing the car for our next event just over 1 week away, a new caliper was sourced from Car Spares of West Drayton and a new set of braided hoses were purchased from the speed shack. The car is now back together in one piece and a spanner check will take place tomorrow on the rest of the car to ensure it wont fall to pieces at Oakington. A bit of high speed testing will take place during this week to balance the carb's and bed in the brakes.
We have been seeded car 45 for Oakington and are waiting for the final reg's to arrive, which should be in the next few days.
The car has been insured for road use now instead of us having to tow her to Brooklands for the testing. The insurance is through Competition Car Insurance and is in fact very reasonable. This means that I can just take the car round the block to make sure everything is OK.

Well not a lot, in fact nothing has been done to the car at the moment. Our mechanic has been busy working on his boat as there was a problem with one of the propellers. I am steadily getting all the bits together before we begin working on the Fester. All I need to get is a new ball joint and then everything is ready to be fitted to the car.
I today received confirmation from the MCAC that our entry was received. A entry list can be found on the MCAC website.

We took a trip to Performance parts UK today to look at a group 2 kit with the intention of buying it. On arrival we were shown a load of old and damaged group 2 parts, it looked like they had been sitting in a field for 20 years and everything was seized solid. He also had a set of the group 2 center lock wheels which were well past their sell by date. I was not very happy and the guy would not budge on his selling price of £500 + £200 for the 4 wheels. It would have cost over £1000 in total to have put them on the car in a useable condition and its wasn't worth the time or the effort to try.
On a better note we stopped off at our local motor shop and picked up a pair of AP 4 pot calipers for just over £100 for the pair an absolute bargain if you ask me.
We also got another hub from our local friendly knackers yard and will be rebuilding the front of the car next week.

Well I think we are all over the disappointment of our first non finish, I hope that there aren't many more. We have sent of our Entry for the Bomb along stages on the 8th September which uses Oakington Barracks. We liked this venue and had a good finish there in February so I hope we get another good finish in September.
See the MCAC website for details.
The parts are currently being gathered together to repair the car and get her ready for Oakington. Many thanks again to Rally Nuts for their speedy response.
Check back soon for the update.
